AngelSpunRags ~
Information

The Ragdoll
The
Ragdoll Cat was first established in the early 1960's by Ann Baker
of
California. Little did she realize what wonderful creatures she produced.
It
is unprecedented in the history of the cat fancy that a breed has taken
over
the hearts and homes of so many people so quickly. This would
explain why
some Ragdoll breeders find it difficult at times to keep up with
requests for
kittens.
Ragdolls are real cuddlers...a more loving pet you will not find.
They are a
true companion with whom you can expect nothing less than an endless
supply of
love. Besides their incredibly sweet personalities you will be
captivated by
their beautiful coats, classic pointed pattern, not to mention
their stunning
blue eyes (all Ragdolls have blue eyes).
Colors and
Patterns
Colors:
Ragdolls come in a
variety of colors. The pointed Ragdoll comes
in 6
traditional pointed colors of Seal, Blue, Chocolate,
Lilac (sometimes
referred to as Frost), Red, and Cream.
Ragdolls also come
in
non-traditional pointed colors which are Tortie point (pointed calico)
and
Lynx point (tabby markings).
Or even a combination of the two which is
called a Torbie (calico with tabby markings).
Patterns:
Ragdolls come in 3
patterns. The most basic is the Color Point.
This cat is a pointed cat
without any white on its body. To get other
patterns, mitted and bicolor you
simply add white to the basic pattern.
White mittens on the
front legs and white boots on the back legs along with
a little white chin
produce the mitted pattern. All white legs and
under the
belly along with a white inverted 'V' on
the face produce the bicolor.
Another semi-pattern
is that of the Lynx. Lynx is tabby striping on the
points of the cat. This
can be combined with any of the available colors.
You can see many of the colors and patterns that we offer in our
Photo
Gallery.
Quality and
Pricing
Quality: Our pedigree Ragdolls are bred and
raised with high standards
in health, temperament and socialization. Kittens are chosen on first come,
first serve basis for the quality selected. A small deposit will hold your
choice of kitten until the kitten is ready to leave its Mom and go to its
new
home. Kittens are available to go to their
new homes by 10 to 12 weeks of
age. At that time they will have gone to the
Veterinarian, had their first
kitten shots, deworming and a total health
check. Your kitten also comes to
you with a 1 year fatal genetic health
guarantee. All of this is to assure you
of the health and quality of your
new family member. All pet quality kittens
are sold
under contract that they Must be spayed or neutered.
Pedigreed Kittens come in three
different qualities. Show quality, pet
quality, and breeding quality. You
will need to decide what you want to do
with your kitten before you can
decide on the quality you need. It is
important to take time to think about
it as your kitten is going to be with you
for many years.
Show Quality is the best example of
a particular breed; they have the best
markings and they are expected to
come closest to the breed standards. If
you think you or your family would
like the option and experience of
showing cats then you would definitely
want to look at show quality kittens.
Some people want show quality
kittens; not to show, but to have the best
physical example of the breed
that they are purchasing.
Pet Quality kittens do not come as
close to the breed standards. This
means they are beautiful kittens that
might have a miss mark (this can vary in
degree) or their eye color may be
a little light. This prevents them from
being shown in the cat ring. The
majority of kittens are pet quality, but that
does not make them any less a Ragdoll with all their wonderful attributes.
Breeding Quality cats must be in top
condition and in the best of health.
Before you consider whether or not you
would like to become a breeder
you will want to do a lot of research. There
are many pros and cons to
breeding and shouldn't be rushed into. Take your
time and talk to various
breeders. Go to some cat shows, that will be a
good place for you to start
and you will have many breeders in one place to
talk to about all the aspects
of raising pedigreed cats.
Pricing: Each Kitten is evaluated for
quality and pricing. Please contact us
